For extremely personal reasons, I am trying to find a new madrina or padrino. This is somewhat complicated by the fact that I live in Arkansas, which seems to detect those who have made the saint the minute they cross state line and immediately eject them back out.
If anyone knows of a practicing Santera or Santero in Arkansas, or even one of the states that border it, please let me know...I would be much obliged for any help.

Lucie

Re: Any santeras in the southern us?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 9:08 AMLucille, Blessings to you and your quest. I just returned form Little Rock a few days ago......and travel there twice a year as I have good friends there. My partner works with a large community out there...he does healing work and pours water for Inipi ceremonies. For the past 4 years he travels there and I often go with him to assist. I was crowned Obatala over 4 years ago and presently live in Santa Fe. I am not contacting you to be your Padrino but thought it would be nice to meet you when I go back......probably in Oct.
I too live in an area with a very small Orisha community......just a handful of us in Santa fe. I too left my Madrina a few years ago.
My friends Matt and Holly own Barefoot studios in Little Rock a yoga studio. There is a beautiful community of people out there and I love visiting. Hope you are safe with all the tornado visitations happening out there.
I do not know of anyone out there who is crowned with Orisha......I travel to Kanas City many times a year for work and have not found anyone out there either.
Let's keep in touch and perhaps we can meet and say hello when I come to Little Rock.
Do you live in Little Rock or close?
Many Blessings to you.
Michael

Re: Any santeras in the southern us?
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 11:10 AMThank you for the concern about all the tornadoes, I think Oya is trying to wake Arkansas up!! I would love it if we kept in touch, as I would love to go to any ceremonies that are happening here...I can't remember if you said that you know people who host rituals, whether crowned or not, and I relly think that an inroad into the community in Arkansas would be very helpful in making new friends...as I am sure we will be...and networking with like-minded folks
