Right now I am cautiously checking out the Santeria "scene" in the DC area. I have gone to some of the Botanicas in the area and I've started reading some books and praying for guidance. I already consider myself a "spiritual person" (for lack of a better phrase), and I feel very drawn to the Orishas. They seem so alive and vibrant - but at the same time very Divine! I am not in a hurry and I feel no sense of immediate urgency - more like a deep longing. I would greatly appreciate any advice, especially based on first hand knowledge from people in this geographic area.

Right now I am assuming that the best way to proceed is to check out the Botanicas and then get a consultation from one or more places that has a good "feel". How does that sound for a plan?
